Remember that George Clooney started somewhere and it may have all started with his actor resume.

Are you wondering where to start? How to write a resume? How to make an acting resume? Maybe you need a theater resume?

If you are trying to make it in the entertainment industry, you need an acting resume. It does not matter if you don’t have official theater or acting experience.

Here are some tips on writing one that will get you noticed.

How to Write an Acting Resume

You can contact the top rated resume services or follow the following advice. Either way, make sure your resume stands out from the crowd.

Make It Professional

Your resume should have a professional look.

It should contain only relevant information. It should show your qualifications that prove that you are suitable for the role for which you are applying.

Use a professional font that doesn’t crowd the information. Some suggestions include Calibri or Cambria.

Make everything fit on one side on an 8×10 sheet of paper but be sure that it is easy to read or glance over.

Attach it to the back of your headshot.

Never put anything that is untrue on your resume!

Begin with Contact Information

Your name should take center stage in bold letters. Add your cell phone number as well as an email address.

Your LinkedIn information can be included here as well.

If you have an agent, you’ll want to list the contact details for them.

Next Up – Your Physical Attributes

Those under 18 need to list their age. Otherwise, your height, weight, hair color, clothing and shoe size needs to be recorded.

Acting Experience

If you have some acting experience, spell it out here.

Start with your most recent and, if applicable, break it into categories. Have one for theater, one for television, one for film, etc.

Do not include plays you did in middle or high school if it was more than 10 years ago.

No Acting Experience?

Make a category for your education and training. List your special skills, workshops you’ve attended.

Include only classes that are relevant to acting. Do not list general education classes that you took while in college, for example.

Special skills could be those that have nothing to do with acting, but everything to do with the particular project that you’re hoping to land. Examples are proficiency in a foreign language, karate, tap dancing, gymnastics, surfing or ice skating.

Landing the Job

Your acting resume needs to sum you up on one 8×10 sheet of paper. Use these tips to create the best resume. It is your foot in the door and may have you on your way to landing the job of your dreams. Maybe someday we’ll be talking about you on our celebrity news site.
