Taylor Swift Takes On Apple And WINS

The mighty Apple has backed down after Taylor complained after she learned that musical artists were not going to be pay for the first 3 months on there new streaming service.

Eddy Cue, vice president of Apple even phoned Taylor to tell her that he’s listening and will instead PAY artist for each download during the trail period.

He even posted on twitter, ‘We hear you @taylorswift13 and indie artists. Apple will always make sure that artist are paid.’

‘#AppleMusic will pay artist for streaming, even during customer’s free trial period.’

Apple Music is set to launch worldwide at the end of June, with monthly subscriptions fees costing $9.99 for a single user or $14.99 for a family of up to six people.

As an incentive the service will be free for the first 3 months so that users can try it out before joining.

Experts believe this could cost the company up to $4.4billion.

This is not the first time Taylor has spoken out about artists getting ‘ripped off’, earlier this year she with drew her music from Spotify saying she wasn’t being paid fairly.

She started her attack on Apple by posting this on Tumblr, ‘I find it to be shocking, disappointing and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company.’

‘This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success.

‘This is about the young songwriter who just got his or her first cut and thought that the royalties from that would get them out of debt.’

‘This is about the producer who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Apple are pioneering in their field… but will not get paid for a quarter of a year’s worth of plays on his or her songs.’

Taylor on Tumblr

‘These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child. These are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much.’

‘Three months is a long time to go unpaid, and it is unfair to ask anyone to work for nothing. I say this with love, reverence, and admiration for everything else Apple has done.’

‘I hope that soon I can join them in the progression towards a streaming model that seems fair to those who create this music. I think this could be the platform that gets it right.’

‘But I say to Apple with all due respect, it’s not too late to change this policy and change the minds of those in the music industry who will be deeply and gravely affected by this.’

‘We don’t ask you for free iPhones. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation.’

Taylor has yet to comment on all this as she’s now in Amsterdam where she has just started the European leg of her 1989 world tour.

Taylor once again gave an outstanding performance last night at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh as she continues with her 1989 World Tour.

Fans began lining up early and as they entered the stadium each one given a wristbands that glowed with multi-colored pulsing lights and with 55,000 fans it made an impressive sight.

But the fun didn’t stop there as Taylor did her part and didn’t hold back as she gave an incredible two hour performance with a state of the art stage and video screens.

Before she sang “I Wish You Would”, she talked about writing an album about love “from the outside.” “I learned a lot about love from watching these incredible ’80s teen movies like ‘The Breakfast Club’ and ‘Sixteen Candles'”, she said.

During her performance of ‘Wonderland’ she told the crowd, “You are not someone else’s opinion of you. You are not damaged goods if you made a few mistakes in your life. You are not going nowhere just because you haven’t gotten there yet.”

Then moving on to her big hit ‘Bad Blood’ she was joined by about a dozen back up dancers wearing black leather costumes.

Ending her set with my all time favorite ‘Shake It Off’, after the song she said, “Thank you for spending your Saturday night with us!”
